Facilitating collaboration among photographers, conservation organizations, and government agencies to produce compelling images promoting conservation.
The Concept
Partnerships between nature photographers and conservation organizations can be a win-win situation for everyone. The photographer is able to leverage the expertise of other members of the team (field biologists, etc.) and gains the necessary credentials required to access sensitive areas. In return, the photographer provides powerful images that increase understanding and regard for the sensitive area and result in more effective advocacy for conservation.
There is no doubt that most nature photographers would gain tremendous satisfaction from contributing to a significant conservation effort, yet very few pursue the opportunity. Given the global and pervasive need for conservation, one would assume there are plenty of opportunities. However, finding these opportunities, establishing the necessary relationships, and navigating the process required to obtain access is often a daunting task for individual photographers.
ConservationPhotographers.com was established as an online community to encourage and facilitate collaboration between photographers and conservation organizations at the "grass roots" level. The site serves as an information resource and gathering place for a community of experts who will provide advice and guidance and help build the relationships required to establish effective partnerships for conservation.
The site gallery showcases conservation related photography by our members and encourages conservation advocacy groups to contact the contributing photographers (or their designated agents) to contract for the use of their images or services.
Participation from both photographers and conservation organizations will provide the synergy needed to accomplish great things. We hope you will join us.
